Dwight D. Eisenhower
Leadership Award Program

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Program recognizes high school juniors who exhibit exceptional performance and potential in the areas of academics, athletics, community service, good citizenship, and leadership.

Awardees receive a selection certificate signed by the President of the  West Point Society of the Lehigh Valley.  The student's name is added to a perpetual plaque  maintained at the high school.  High schools are encouraged to permit a society member present the award in an assembly of the student's peers.

Awardees and members of thier familes are invited to participate in the annual Leadership Awards Recognition Day at West Point.

Society members participating in this program sponsor a specific high school in their local area.  The society sends a letter to the high school (copy to the sponsor) inviting the school to identify that school's award recipient based on a specific set of selection criteria.  The sponsor is then asked to follow up with a phone call and/or visit to the high school to encourage participation.  Once the individual has been selected to receive the award, the high school is encouraged, by the sponsor, to schedule an appropriate presentation venue where the recipient is presented the award in the presence of his/her peers.

Our program objective is to encourage local high schools and high school students to become more familiar with our alma mater and, of course, to identify potential candidates for the West Point Admissions Field Force.
